Log Horizon: The World of Elder Tale

I've always been a big fan of amazing and topnotch uncharted anime. In my terms for an uncharted anime, it doesn't mean that it has no viewers at all, but these are those anime that isn't making a big fuss on the mainstream industry. Meaning, no memes, no 'Like this for......Share for.......' stuff by random otaku pages. These are those that are making their silent way into the industry. Some of them are Shinsekai Yori, Kotoura-san, Cuticle Tantei Inaba, and Kokoro Connect. And there came Log Horizon, an anime that most anime junkies compare to Sword Art Online for the idea of 'can't log-out' concept in a virtual game.

Log Horizon sets off in the town of Akihabara, one of the towns in the Elder Tale game that uses the Half-Gaia Project, where the actual distances of the world is halved in the game, and the map of Japan. Unlike Sword Art Online, where everyone are sword-wielders, this game offers a bunch of classes and subclasses, and also skills. This maybe is the reason for the need of  explanations while the anime is running. It's actually, a lot of comprehending to do.

This basically takes up the concept of the cons of having virtual realities, but in this game, when the players die, they revive in the town cathedral, sweet 'eh? Not. If they die in the game and revive, they'll just be living inside the Elder Tale, there's still no clue of how they'll be able to get out of the game, and that's what made things even more complicated, without them dying, or just, fight monsters-die-make a living, they're basically sitting ducks and not doing anything. That's when the PKs came to play, player killers and player killings, which most gamers do in the game just-because-they-have-nothing-to-do. But doesn't that take the humanity out of them? They're like living animals in the game, hunting to survive, killing for fun.

Yes, they have mounts in the game. They have llama horses and griffons, introduced in the early episodes of the anime.

I'd be tuning in to this anime for awhile and see how it'll go. Do watch the anime and share your insights in the comments below.
