P!nk’s ‘The Truth About Love’: Album Review

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Out of the context, my favorite among all her songs would still be Fuckin' Perfect. Looks like the impact of the separation of our good honey P!nk and her biker husband Carey Hart on February 19, 2008 is very visible on her new album, The Truth About Love. She must've love him very much that her feelings to him affected a lot on her songs.

Though some of her songs take on resemblance from other songs like Slut Like You and Starships by Nicki Minaj, her songs still resonates through your heart. The beat, the lyrics, the voice, everything's still P!nk, but the album revolves entirely about love.

'Just Give Me A Reason' inflicts a positive mood, with the calm and soft theme like 'We Are Young'. It's more like a girls positive point of view over a break-up or brink of break-up. A woman explaining to herself, making herself believe that they can learn to love each other again, that they are okay and things are going well. Pretty much the opposite of 'If I Were A Boy' by Beyonce's message. Somewhat, a man's dreamgirl, understanding, patient and positive, and doesn't easily get jealous.

Her 'The Truth About Love' is a song of sarcasm and reality to those who seemingly deem themselves to know a lot about love and keep blabbering on ridiculous sweetness on love. 'The truth about love is that it comes and it goes' she said on her song, pretty much what happens on people who thinks love, in reality, is the same as in their fantasies. On the otherhand, 'Blow Me(One Last Kiss)' and 'Try' pretty much entails a sad love story of a woman, who gets left for another woman and being loved just for sex and pleasure. The album shows that P!nk is just like us ordinary people, that she gets hurt, she gets down, she rises up, chin up saying "Fuck you bitches, I'm hurt but I'm strong-er" Her songs shows that vulnerability is not something you should hide or keep to yourself, you can use it to make yourself better.

The thing is, P!nk's album is a surprise. It's not like Nicki Minaj's songs that are all on the same genre. P!nk gives her fans a variety, like a big bowl of salad, you'd never know until you hear it. Even though most of her songs are gloomy and realist, still, she gives everyone, especially those who are gothic and emos, the realization and inspiration to give life another kick, have another path in life, but never forget to love yourself. P!nk's unlike any other.

Buy her album, people. Download it on iTunes. Stop the piracy, give the woman the credit.
