Rikuo Nura, the grandson of the great Nurarihyon is entitled to be the third heir of the Nura Clan. Rikuo loves yokai, he adores them. In fact, they have tons of yokai in their mansion, all part of the Nura Clan, the one that his grandfather and his father, Rihan formed. All three of them, worked hard to become the Lord of Pandemonium.
When he was still young, the stories Nurarihyon told him about his great journeys with his Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, made him idolize yokais. He also dreamt of becoming the Lord of Pandemonium and the Supreme Commander of his own night parade. But this adoration made his school life miserable, for whenever they have discussions about yokais, he always shares to everyone that his grandfather is Nurarihyon and that their house is filled with them. His classmates ends up laughing at him. But one incident change everything, for the yokais he loved where really monsters, monsters who devour children and eat people. He didn't believed it a first, no until Nurarihyon introduced him to the whole clan. That's when he found out that it was real.
Until now, it is not clear if he is a yokai or a human. But all he wants is to fight for the safety of both yokais and humans.
The photo is epic. It really captures that medieval facial mood of the yokai Rikuo. The pose is great. Although, it would be great if they could have a shoot at a lily pond with cherry blossoms falling? But still, a great shot, great cosplay.
"My name is Jack Frost and we're gonna have a little fun."
Jackson Overland "Jack" Frost is an immortal supernatural being much like the Guardians. Unlike the others, however, he is a loner, the classic rebel without a cause, sarcastic and mischievous. He has incredible control over ice and the cold. He is a spirit of games and fun times, but when at last he discovered the purpose behind his amazing powers, he became a true Guardian, representing Fun.
Jack Frost is a mischievous teenage hellion who has no interest in being bound by rules or obligations, and just wants to spread his winter magic for the sake of the personal amusement of himself and children. Despite these traits, Jack is also gentle and generous.
"I've been around for a long time. My name is Jack Frost. I love being on my own. No rules. No responsibility. It's as good as it sounds."
Jack Frost cosplay by the great and awesome Liui Aquino. The great thing about this is that he looks a lot like Jack Frost, seeing from his close-up screenies online. Though I would like to comment on his pose here, since I haven't seen a Jack Frost cosplay with the Jack-Frost-skating pose like the one in the movie posters. But all in all, the photo's great, the tree and everything is perfect. But the jeans,, oh the beautiful jeans. I pity the jeans.
"You don't want me. You're all hard work and deadlines! I'm... snowballs and fun times. I'm not a Guardian."

First of all, I just wish that Animax would bring AFA in the Philippines. Now, I was very excited the first time I heard the news that there will be an anime/cosplay convention sponsored by Animax.
When we got there, at around 10:50 AM, we hurried and looked for the carnival already because we are really after the Premiums. Also, if you are in the first 500 participants, you'll be able to enjoy the games and items offered by the Animax Team. There were the Tic-Tac-Toss, Smash the Can, Ring Toss, Coin Toss, Hook & Fish, and the Balloon Pop. Although me and my friends weren't able to play all the games(its because every voucher is entitled for 2 games at maximum only and you are to choose if you want the dubbing booth, or the photo booth- somehow, my friends were able to play 3 games, but I only got 2).
It was a lot of fun. There were tons of amazing stuff, by the way, we won Canvass Tote Bagsssss(yes, we had a lot of it), Fam Lanyards, and a Fam Notebook.
Now for the review...
When we got there, only those who intentionally went there was there, no passersby. But when we returned about an hour after, the people doubled. Lunch came and when we returned, the place was filled with people and the Animax team had to close the event area because it is already overcrowded.
There's this white Christmas tree towering in the middle of the event area, which made the place look even smaller and cover the views from the other floors of the mall. It's hard to move around and its quite irritating.
As I said earlier, they closed the event area for being over crowded. Maybe it would have been nice if they made the vouchers tickets for the entrance. Since the passersby came in and took the seats. It's pretty rude even though the event is free admission. Too bad we got locked out, we weren't able to go to the Photo booth, which obviously had a very long line. Didn't I mention that you can borrow the attires there and have it while having your picture? -ENVIOUS-
Now, let's rate the event:
Organization: 5/5
They are really organized and they are obviously well-prepared for the event.
Conduciveness: 2/5
I would love it even more if they did on SMX Convention Center, just like Cosmania '12. The Christmas decoration made it even harder to move around. They had to curve the lines just so the people can fit while lining up.
Event Proper: 4/5
The policy of free admission really ruined my day. We got locked out. Is it something I should be happy about? OBVIOUSLY NOT.
Hospitality: 3.5/5
The facilitators/moderators in the booths were nice. EXCEPT from the guy near the Christmas tree who was taping the event. I ACCIDENTALLY tripped over his tripod and immediately said "Sorry." and he answered me, "'Di lang nakakakita?(Are you blind?)" which is very very rude for me for I was humbly taking the blame already and he gave me that attitude. Eh kung sabihin ko sayong "Sorry kuya, sorry". Tanggap mo yon? Kidding aside, it's nothing serious, I just thought of it from the infamous, AMALAYER.
The traitor of the HOMRA and now, the loyal servant of the SCEPTER 4, Fushimi is far stronger than anyone else for he holds the power of the red and blue clansmen.
As a former member of HOMRA, Fushimi bears their insignia over his left pectoral muscle. However, the tattoo is scratched out and there are black lines running through it, seems like a fading tattoo.
Fushimi, as a former member of the HOMRA, is violent in nature. He doesn't hold back in battles and is very sneaky when it comes to undercover assignments.
The battle between kings continues unto tonight's new episode. The ambush for the silver king is approaching, Yashiro's past is at hand. What will happen next? Catch it later on the same-time telecast on Animax!
Another great cosplay brought to us by KANAME☆, Fushimi Saruhiko of K. The angle of this photo is nice and the intensity of the KANAME☆'s stair is overwhelming, a gaze you never wanna miss. The accuracy of this cosplay is somewhat realistic. For he, or this cosplay looks very much like the Fushimi in the anime, not much of difference, just that he isn't born of paper and can do the Gangnam Style.(If you wish to know more about his Gangnam Style, visit http://dannychoo.com.)
Rise of the Guardians is an action packed movie about our childhood fantasies, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Easter Bunny comes in one team to fight against the evil Pitch Black's fear infestation over the world.
Jack Frost, the spirit of winter who is "all snowballs and fun times. I'm not a Guardian." kind of boy got involved in this battle, with his curiosity about his past life, of who he was before he became a spirit.
He fights with the other spirits in dream of finding out who he was before and to save the world's childhood from the fear that Pitch holds.
"Do you stop believing in the moon just because the sun comes up?"
"And if the moon tells you something... believe it."
Jack Frost, the boy who died protecting his sister lives on to spread the spirit of winter and joy of snow to everyone in the world.
This cosplay gives me butterflies, and it's weird. I love how the north-ish floor was incorporated in this photo and that autumn-ish leaf. But I would love to see a familiar pose from the movie, even like the one on the cover?
As promised, this is my review on the anime, Another. But before I do, I should say that I really love this anime. This kind of anime is rare to find. Well, here goes:
Are you a blood-splatting, horror-loving, gore-lover and mystery-seeker kind of guy? Well, this anime's for you. It hall the essence of blood, horror, and mystery in packed without losing that must to watch essence. Although I have to say that some things are still a bit unclear regarding some parts of this anime.
This anime is about a class in ninth grade who experiences a weird calamity of unusual death occurrences. They tried and tried to find out why are they the only ones experiencing it and only them are the ones suffering. Misaki Mei, a student of this class sees things no one can see with her glass doll eyes. She then befriends Kouchi Sakakibara and ends the calamity. Deaths will be encountered and no one is safe, not until the dead person comes back to death. You would be questioning a lot of things but don't worry, the anime would fill those questions in the end.
Here's my rating for this:
Story: 9.9 / 10
Cinematography/Graphics: 10 / 10
Consistency: 10 / 10
Genre: 10 / 10
Sounds: 10 / 10
Opening/Closing: 10 / 10
Remarks: All in all, its great, even thought there a 9.9, its a 10.
So that you could further understand my rating here's how I rated it:
This anime would make you even more creative, moreover, on causes of death like Final Destination. Although Final Destination is sometimes predictable while this anime isn't. I was happy that I was always wrong whenever I try to visualize their deaths. Somehow, it's funny in ways that only people like me would understand. But you should be aware that in watching this, you are in effect will be afraid of certain occurrences and items that you will be seeing in this anime.
The story, somehow, I do have to commend and comment on. I still don't get some bits of information from it. Like, why did Kouchi never asked her sister about her advisory class before theirs and only showed him asking about her class 15 years ago. But all in all, the from the beginning until the ending, as a whole, this anime is a 10. It should definitely have another season, or a live action.
"This feeling of reality, of humanity. The senseless crave for contentment yet we're never satisfied. After the other comes another, and after that, another one. The cycle of life never ends. The endless search for salvation. Is it all just vanity or plain hysteria? Is this what is takes to be human? If so, then I'd rather not be." - Keneshi
I have to admit, Akazawa Izumi's death nearly to-, oh wait, it did tore me to pieces. Seeing someone who tried protecting everyone, spending her days thinking of ending the calamity, die in a very cruel way. WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO DIE? Why didn't those other girls die instead? But still, this picture, this scene is the best part of this episode. Atleast, we'll know she'll not comeback to life and become the Another on the coming class 3, or if what I am thinking is right.

So that you could further understand my rating here's how I rated it:
- The Story is rated based on how it was resolved or whether or not, there are no questions left unanswered.
- The Cinematography/Graphics is rated accordingly on how it was created, was is realistic? Appealing and something new?
- The Consistency is rated according to it's sense of interests.
- The Genre is rated based on how it stuck to its genre.
- The Sounds, well based on the sound effects used.
- Opening/Closing is based on my first time of watching this. It is whether or not I like the opening already and how the closing somehow lifted the intensity of the episode.

I have been watching this new anime that I have discovered(I know it was released in April - or somewhere in early months of 2012, forgive me 'cause good animes don't reach remote areas instantly aaaaand I'm not serious about that) a new anime, Another which is a mystery, horror and gore kind of anime. I'm halfway of finishing this and I can't wait to finish this anime. I'll be writing a review about this after I've watched, and yes, I'll be unbiased on this, even though I really loved this anime. Just hoping I could finish watching it before Friday.
Since tonight is Halloween already, let me give you some of the most amazing hair-raising, eye-catching, spine-chilling cosplays here in the Philippines.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
So I didn't had the liberty to own a liquid latex to use in this project, luckily, I found out that you could substitute handy old Elmer's Glue for the liquid latex. Though I wish I could have used liquid latex, just to know the difference of the outcome. But nonetheless, its a good homemade special effects.
In this project, we will need:
- White Elmer's Glue. I haven't tried it on other white glues. I tried using the Washable No Run Gel, I'm still waiting for what it would come out.
- Tissue Paper. Just your plain old tissues. Nothing special needed.
- Foam/Brush. Or you could use your hands.
- Foundation/Concealer. To give the prosthetic skin-like color.
- Blower. This is somewhat, optional, it makes the job faster.
- A base(Tray, Baking Pan, Any smooth surfaced platform. I used a book and plastic folder). This is very important, your whole project depends on this.
Well then, let's start?
First things first. Get your base. Damp the Elmer's Glue on the surface. It doesn't have to be too thin or too thick, you'll be doing layers of this. Every time you are done with the layer, blow dry it.
Tip: Cover a big area, this would help in peeling it off.
Once you reached four(4), or until you think it's enough, you apply another layer of glue over it, but do not dry it, put a layer of tissue paper over it and damp another enough glue to cover the tissue layer. I suggest that you do not pile layers of tissue paper since it would be hard for the glue to dry, and it would make the prosthetic not pliable.
Once everything is set, before you dry it, brush on a layer of foundation over it to help it dry and also, to add that skin look to it(I didn't do this on the first one that I did for some reasons, that is why mine is white-ish. The second one looks nice too.)
After it dries, really really dry, it's time to peel it off. Every after you peel, you, again, apply/brush another layer of foundation below, to remove the stickiness of the peeled surface and to add the same skin-like effect. Keep doing this until you peeled the entire thing off.
This one's without the foundation/concealer. This was my first try. The surface is rough and the back is smooth. |
And viola! You now have a homemade prosthetic using Elmer's glue. You can do various stuff with it depending on your need. You can do a stitch, a cut, an open wound or anything you could think off.
As usual, I loved the opening theme. Kudos to angela for the amazing song. The opening, yes, it was an awesome bridge, just like the whole animation of this anime, the opening was amazing.
This episode was more about seeking proofs to prove Yashi's innocence. While they were doing that, they were on costume. Yes, Japanese cultural attire. Also, Neko was stunning with her attire.
As I said, they were looking for evidences and went around the school, talked to bunch of students who there at the festival on the 7th of December, the day the "Colourless King" killed one of Homura's clansmen.
In the end, Yashi's alibi was accepted and Kuroh won't have to kill him anymore. Hurray? But there's something bothering, something shocking happened in this episode that I won't be spilling out and that I want you to watch it yourself.
The Homura clan already knows where he is, also, the SCEPTER4. I'm quite scared of what will happen next since Yata and the one with the white hoodie already found their school.
And yes, there something in this episode that you have to watch. It kinda twists the story upside down.
What do you think of K Projects episode 4? Tell us more, leave a comment below.
So...uhm... I was astonished by the Dead Silence Make-Up Tutorial by crystalprostlyer on YouTube. I made mine using the plaine white Elmer's Glue since I don't have latex here and I don't know where the heck I could buy one here in the Philippines. I'll be posting what it looks like and how I made it if it comes out nicely, if not, disregard this post.
I just wish I could use this knowledge someday. Maybe, a zombie cosplay?

EDIT: It came out nicely(not perfect though). I'll be posting a tutorial soon.
EDIT: I'm going to try out the one made with gelatin mix and glycerine(though I need to buy glycerine first) then I'll make the tutorial and review about it. *MEEEP*
As I said before, in my former blog entry, some people don't even know the true art and essence of the word and hobby, 'COSPLAY'(I can't believe that I even have the guts to comment on these issues tho I, myself is not a cosplayer, but a mere con-goer. Maybe it's because I've been a spectator for so long that I can classify my self eligible of criticizing on what I see for I've been used to seeing it and it's not something new to me.). Some self-proclaimed cosplayers don't even put much effort and passion into what they are doing. It's like "Hey! Look! I'm all dressed up as a cute girl" or "Look upon me and worship me for I am the personification of your favorite character" attitude of most newbs.
From time to time(since I don't attend EVERY con and just go to cons where my schedule is free...), I see more and more cosplayers roaming around, looking like manga-trash(does mangas that never got the chance to be published for you-know-what reason). Synthetic wigs that looks like they're suffering from cancer, inappropriate wig style/look, and most of all, NOT WEARING ANY AT ALL. Just their plain black, straight hair. It's a pain in the eye seeing them, calling themselves cosplayers, although they don't even know how to do the proper make-up for their character, or even the simplest of poses of the character they are portraying.
Cosplay isn't a FASHION TREND, it isn't for modelling. It's not about mere wearing of the costume or the attire of the character walking around the way you want, but wearing the character and it's characteristics as a whole.
Most of the time, when I see a Vocaloid cosplayer(No offense meant to Vocaloid cosplayers) it's either the projection is outstanding or out...out. It was like they did that for the sake of cosplaying. I for one did not knew who they were when I first attended my very first con, but since whenever I see them in conventions, I got used to what they look like, got curious, Googled them up and learned a bunch of stuff. And realizing what I've seen and been seeing, for goodness sake, please stop what your doing and get the hell out of my sight. Most cosgailers cosplay these personas because it requires no information about the character unlike anime characters that even requires further research to fully gain knowledge about them.
But I'm not saying that only those who are elite cosplayers should cosplay, although I am saying that make the necessary preparations before you debut your cosplay. Isn't it that you also do preparations before big events? It's just the same as this, it's like your Baptism, you are to be welcomed into the cosplay world after you debut your first cosplay.
Tips from a cosplay spectator:

Tips from a cosplay spectator:
- Go over multiple tutorials and try them yourself until you think you got it.
- Earn. Earn sufficient money so that you can complete every single bit of detail of your character. Cosplay is about art and craftsmanship, also being critical, observing the smallest of details.
- Inquire/Ask cosplayers who have been in this league for a long time. Ask them about the wigs, the shoes(because some characters require custom boots/shoes), the weapon/props, the accessories, the make-up and the look.
- Think of alternatives. Your characters are fictional. Most of the time, the item that would complete the look can't be found on any store. Make one.
- Think a bunch of times every now and then.
- Be careful of scammers Be sure to buy only to legit online sellers if you are to order your items online and be sure to differentiate what's good and what's not if you are to buy offline.
- Have fun. Spectators like me like seeing barkadas/tropas cosplaying epic characters and having fun.
Make the best of it. Anyway, it is an expensive hobby.
Celebrity cosplayer from Japan, KANAME☆ has been famous since time unknown. He has been very well recognized in the cosplay world for his Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Portgas D. Ace of One Piece, and Ichigo of Bleach cosplays.
